USSTRATCOM Commander visits 18th AF
SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. - Admiral Cecil D. Haney, Commander, United States Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. talks with Maj. Gen. Barbara Faulkenberry, 18th Air Force Vice Commander, during a visit here March 11. The visit allowed AMC and 18th Air Force leaders to discuss more effective ways to carry out the commands' global missions. "The relationship between U.S. Strategic Command and the 18th Air Force is critical," said Haney. "At the end of the day, when all else fails, our strategic capability has to work. We can't successfully employ the bomber leg of the nuclear triad without the [18th Air Force's] refuelers." USSTRATCOM relies on various components for the execution of its global missions, including space operations, information operations, missile defense, global command and control; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR); global strike and strategic deterrence, and combating weapons of mass destruction. The 18th Air Force supports USSTRATCOM's mission by providing aerial refueling capabilities through Task Force 294.
