780th EAS ends transit mission at MK
MIHAIL KOGALNICEANU AIR BASE, Romania - Lt. Col. Todd McCoy, 780th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron commander, cases the squadron's colors during a ceremony officially ending the U.S. Air Force mission on Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, Romania, Dec. 29, 2014. Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, or MK, replaced Manas Air Base, Kyrgystan, as the Air Force's air transportation hub for operations into and out of Afghanistan. From Jan. 15, 2014 to Dec. 29, 2014, More than 83,000 U.S. and coalition personnel and more than 5,800 tons of cargo transited MK over the course of 507 C-17 missions. (DoD photo by Lance Cpl.
