Eighteenth Air Force, headquartered at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., was reactivated Oct. 1, 2003 as Air Mobility Command's warfighting numbered air force and is responsible for tasking and executing all air mobility missions. It consists of the 618th Tanker Airlift Control Center, two expeditionary mobility task forces, 13 wings, and one stand-alone group.

Eighteenth Air Force's role is to command assigned forces, present air mobility forces (airlift and air refueling) and support forces to combatant commanders through U.S. Transportation Command.

Provide global Air Mobility support to our warfighting commands through the generation and employment of unrivaled airlift, air refueling and aeromedical evacuation for timely, accurate and sustained delivery across the entire spectrum of America's warfighting operations.
