  • Fairchild hosts, completes Mobility Guardian exercise

    Fairchild Air Force Base hosted U.S. Airmen, Soldiers, and Marines, along with international partners from around the world, as they worked together to practice joint coalition operations in support of Air Mobility Command’s Mobility Guardian 2019 exercise, in Washington, Sept. 8-28.

  • LRAFB DDRP wins 2019 Red Ribbon Award

    The office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness annouced Sept. 5, 2019, that the 19th Airlift Wing Drug Demand Reduction Program won the 29th-annual Secretary of Defense Community Drug Awareness Award, which is given to one installation from each military branch, making LRAFB the 2019 U.S. Air Force category winner. The Red Ribbon Award highlights all the prevention efforts that have been made throughout the past year by the DDRP’s joint service and multiagency coalition.
  • 36th RQS commemorates save 700

    The 36th Rescue Squadron commemorated the successful completion of its 700th save at a ceremony held Sept. 20 at Fairchild Air Force Base. The ceremony included a Bell UH-1N Iroquois ‘Huey’ helicopter performing a search and rescue demonstration, a helicopter fly-over, and the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the 700th save that took place on Aug. 12.
  • Airmen, U.S. Army participate in Joint Forcible Entry exercise

    Joint Coalition Forces simulated a Joint Forcible Entry maneuver against a simulated enemy-held airbase during Air Mobility Command’s flagship Exercise Mobility Guardian, Sept. 13-14. U.S. Army soldiers from Fort Bragg’s 82nd Airborne Division and U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Liaison Officers from the 621st Mobility Support Operations Squadron preformed a nighttime airborne assault jump out of several C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs into simulated enemy territory where they simulated seizing control of an airfield and neighboring city to ensure U.S., Canadian and Australian Royal Air Force Airmen could enter and reestablish it as an operating, allied airfield.
  • International medics tackle Tactical Combat Casualty Care

    Nearly two hundred medics from the U.S. Air Force and Army, as well as partner countries Australia, New Zealand and Canada, underwent Tactical Combat Casualty Care training Sept. 12-15 during Exercise Mobility Guardian 2019.
  • Deployment initiative revamps 18 year ops tempo

    The 19th Airlift Wing from Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, partnered with the 317th AW from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, to create the 4/12 deployment initiative, signifying the first time since September 11, 2001, that entire units from these wings will be home together. Through fulfilling this joint partnership between the four flying squadrons, it has provided stability, training opportunities, and ensures one cohesive fighting team.
  • MacDill’s EOD supports ATF in federal case

    The 6th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight assigned to MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, led a joint disposal operation along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), at the Avon Park Air Force Range, Florida, Sept. 8-11, 2019.
