  • Team MacDill hosts 18th Air Force leadership

    Maj. Gen. Thad Bibb Jr., 18th Air Force commander and Chief Master Sgt. Chad Bickley, 18th AF command chief, visited MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, Feb. 17-19. During their visit, Bibb and Bickley viewed Team MacDill’s ability to deliver unmatched air refueling, installation and mission support. They also visited U.S. Central Command and toured a variety of base agencies that demonstrated MacDill’s readiness and resilience priorities.
  • MacDill strengthens capabilities through integrated training with Shaw

    Airmen from the 6th Air Refueling Wing conducted an off-site integrated training with the 20th Fighter Wing at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina Nov. 29 to Dec. 5, 2020. Over the course of five days, Aircrews with the 91st Air Refueling Squadron, maintainers with the 6th Maintenance Group and Airmen with the 6th Operations Support Squadron teamed with Airmen assigned to Shaw AFB in order to bolster each unit’s full-spectrum readiness capabilities.

  • Team MacDill conducts FOD walk following Tropical Storm Eta

    On Nov. 13, Team MacDill Airmen conducted a foreign object and debris walk to clear foreign material from the flight line. FOD walks are conducted routinely to clear the flight line of foreign objects and debris to prevent aircraft damage.
  • MacDill partners with USFWS to preserve, protect local environment

    In 1960, the importance and value of lands contained in military bases was formally recognized with the passing of the Sikes Act. The act seeks to ensure that unique and diverse ecosystems are protected and enhanced while allowing the military to meet its operational needs. Brendan Myers, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service liaison, staffs an important position alongside the 6th Civil Engineer Squadron’s environmental flight, to diligently preserve and protect the lands located at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.
  • 6th ARW: train, deliver, repeat

    Daily flight training missions are conducted at MacDill, so that aircrews can maintain proficiency and readiness to execute the many missions of KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft.
  • 6th ARW hosts senior spouse immersion tour

    The 6th Air Refueling Wing hosted a senior-leadership spouse immersion tour here Sept. 24. The tour provided new 6th ARW leadership spouses an in-depth look at the wing’s mission and familiarize them with base services and operations.
  • MacDill Total Force team successfully conducts readiness exercise

    Mobility Airmen from the 6th and 927th Air Refueling Wings participated in a joint readiness exercise here Aug. 26-28, 2020. The exercise tested Team MacDill’s ability to rapidly deploy and conduct air-refueling operations while complying with real-world COVID-19 pandemic countermeasures. Through robust and relevant training, the exercise is designed to build readiness and develop Mobility Airmen to ensure they deliver rapid global mobility now and in the future.
