Special Mission Aviators: your safety, our mission
U.S. Air Force Master Sgt.Charlton Packham, 33rd Rescue Squadron special missions aviator operations superintendent, sits in the SMA seat on a HH-60W Jolly Green II assigned to the 33rd RQS for a gunnery training sortie off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, July 23, 2025. SMAs are the primary weapon systems operators, flight engineers and the primary hoist operators for the aircraft.
