628th Air Base Wing change of command

Col. Jeff Nelson, center, outgoing commander of the 628th Air Base Wing and Joint Base Charleston, receives the Legion of Merit medal from Maj. Gen. John Gordy II, left, U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center commander, during a change of command ceremony Sept. 5, 2018, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. After receiving the award, Nelson relinquished command of the wing and Col. Terrence Adams, right, assumed his responsibility. Joint Base Charleston is one of 12 Department of Defense joint bases and is host to over 60 DOD and federal agencies. The 628th ABW delivers installation support to over 90,000 Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, civilians, dependents and retirees across four installations including the Air Base and Naval Weapons Station.
