A memorial was held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetary in Will County, Wednesday Aug. 30, to commemorate 19 veterans who passed away, and their remains left unclaimed -- among them were two Air Force veterans. Both veterans, Pfc. Lenore H. Andel and Sgt. Asher Feren, served in WWII.

Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard, along with honor guard teams from each military branch, provided funeral honors after 19 volunteers placed the remains behind folded American flags. The ceremony highlighted the significance of honoring the sacrifices made by these veterans and serves as a reminder that there is no such thing as a forgotten veteran.
