FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Airmen from the 92nd and 141st Air Refueling Wings conducted exercise Titan Fury 21-1, Dec. 7-11, enabling mission success through readiness training.
Titan Fury is a total force readiness exercise conducted to validate the training of our crews and ensure Fairchild’s Airmen can provide Rapid Global Mobility at a moment’s notice.
“It was a demanding exercise for sure,” said Capt. Matt Daugherty, 93rd Air Refueling Squadron KC-135 Stratotanker pilot. “But overall, we were able to get aircraft off the ground, and successfully practice some of our rapid responses.”
The U.S. military’s ability to respond to global threats and emergencies would be almost impossible without the KC-135 and the men and women that keep it and themselves sharp and ready.
“Whether it’s command post, maintainers, operators, air crew or our [plans] personnel, we are able provide them the training opportunities they need to stay current and mission ready,” said Lt. Col. Jasmine Simms, 92nd ARW inspector general.
With COVID-19 limiting manning and communication, this particular exercise presented its own obstacles that each unit was able to overcome and learn from.
“It’s extremely important we make sure we don’t contribute to the spread of the pandemic,” said Daugherty, “Abiding by the mitigation rules posed some challenges, but we were able to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, while also bolstering our readiness rates.”
Despite all the adversities that have come with this year, Team Fairchild has remained steadfast in their air refueling mission and a vital component in maintaining U.S. and allied air power worldwide.
